Set in the rustic surroundings of a village in Haryana, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is a comedy-drama about Harry Mandola (Pankaj Kapoor), a wealthy industrialist who loves his drink, his daughter Bijlee (Anushka Sharma) and the unusual bond they both share with Harry's man Friday, Matru (Imran Khan).

Much to her father's delight, Bijlee is all set to marry Baadal (Aarya Babbar), the son of a powerful politician Chaudhari Devi (Shabana Aami). This alliance which is far from just being a simple union of two young people becomes the seed for a story that brings twists and turns in the lives of Matru, Bijlee and Mandola.

Word of mouth - There is an abuse which is often used in the film. That was my emotion when I walked out of Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola. It is the ‘Joker meets Aiyaa ‘film of this year.

Rating - 2.5 ( Average)

Ticket Meter – worth 100 bucks

Catch on DVD for sure.

Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola is th typical political satire drill. The only difference is an ace act by Pankaj Kapur, 2-3 wonderfully insightful dialogues, and some feisty, witty lines.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is, without a doubt, a clever film and has too many memorable scenes but I'm not sure if at all they could compensate for its disastrous climax.

A political satire with good intentions but over-acted, lengthy and saddled with belabored humor.

Vishal Bharadwaj does inventive, out-of-the-box cinema, and for that he is too be commended. Still a film must hold interest and make sense, and this one does neither . . .
