Shagird is a fast- paced action thriller cop drama that unfolds in the capital city of Delhi amidst the nexus of cops politicians & the mafia. Delhi Crime Branch Officer Hanumant Singh - a respected yet feared officer whose tactics and ethics are questionable, mentors Mohit a new junior officer in his team Their ideologies cross paths when a notorious gangster Bunty Bhaiya enters the fray.

Together, Hanumant Singh & Bunty Bhaiya work for a power hungry politician Rajmani Singh who rules the state using unethical means and will not let anything or anyone come in his way. The story isn’t startling or new. Still, this intricate web of deceit and betrayal could have been a compelling thriller but Dhulia, who co-wrote it with Kamal Pandey, just doesn’t weave it skillfully enough

The trouble with Shagird, despite its sharp, often funny exchanges, and a few spanking scenes, is that it is not new enough
