Raanjhanaa Movie Review

There’s love in this story, the scary kind that involves razor blades and slit wrists and forgetting that it’s one’s wedding day – but this is essentially a story of atonement, of washing away one’s sins, and that’s why it needed to be set in Benares, by the Ganges

The Hindu

This love story is fantastical but these are characters we could know. Their emotions move us — so much so that when Kundan finally breaks down and cries, I wept too

Hindustan Times

For its immensely entertaining first half, a winning score by AR Rahman, but most of all for Dhanush, this is a film that's worth your time

Kundan and Zoya aren’t easily likeable. They have flaws. They make mistakes. Blunders, really. But Rai shows them for what they are; he never paints a pretty picture. And this brutal honesty coupled with a commanding Dhanush is what works.

The playfulness and intensity that Dhanush, making his Bollywood debut, exhibits consistently is what keeps the film ticking

Indian Express

Tough love and idealism in a fretful jumble

Dhanush is so good, he makes you want to be him. Sonam hits her peak form. Raanjhanaa flows like good poetry

Mumbai Mirror

Beyond its distinctive writing, it is director Anand L Rai's vision that gives the film its soul. The milieu he creates, the music and montages that he skillfully employs, the performances that he extracts and the poignant end he opts for just makes Raanjhanaa a memorable love story

Times of India

A great love story

Filmfare
