Editor May 10, 2012 17:23In the film, Dhulia details out Paan Singh’s life, from that of a law-abiding decent man to that of a notorious dacoit hunted for by the police. Dhulia develops his characters nicely – Paan Singh might be a law-breaker, but we’re siding with him anyways. This film is gritty and down-to-earth. For it’s well-paced direction, screenplay and gorgeous acting this bio-pic is well-worth your time. Go see it!
The keen must watch on screen; else DVD for sure.
Paan Singh Tomar is a sports film that needed to be made. It's high time cinema took a look into the dark side of the pathetic manner in which sportspersons are treated in this country. And Paan Singh Tomar does that with empathy and sincerity.
Final Few Words Paan Singh Tomar is a biopic in a hurry. Perfect for a generation that has short attention spans and gets bored easily. If you watch a film at night and wake up thinking about it the film has worked.
Rating - **** (Very Good)
Ticket Meter Worth 250/- bucks.
Paan Singh Tomar neither has the menace of a Gabbar nor the charisma of a Robinhood. Yet , he is the most endearingly human dacoit one would ever come across. Gun in hand but an athlete at heart , PST is poignant , humorous and tragic. Must watch.
The film grows on you after you leave the auditorium. The scene where Irrfan admits that the box of ice cream he receives from his senior during his retirement is the biggest award he could have ever won, and the encounter scene where he reminisces of his glory days is sure to induce some goose-bump moments – a rare occurrence these days while watching films.
